Im hoping for some advice with this. I am setting up a new V18 3CX build at the moment for a facility, and that the moment they have three Reception phones each with their own unique extension.

My plan with V18 was to have all three unique extensions again, have them all setup with the same [email protected] email to forward voicemails to, and to manage BLF's on a T54W Sidecar by editing all three extensions BLF's in unison when ever there is a change.

From what I can see with my test V20 instance, the ability to edit multiple extensions at the same time is now gone unfortunately.

Im now thinking maybe I should just make one extension and have all three phones hooked up to it as a way to keep this manageable going forward, and to resolve the upcoming issue of having duplicate emails on these extensions.

Would love any suggestions on this, as it is easier for me to change it now than when I roll out V20.

All the phones on one user works. Just remember to enable "accept multiple calls" so that second and third phone can answer calls when the first is busy.

fyi, bulk editing will come back in a future update.

Note “multiple calls” doesn’t work for ring group calls.

There are two questions that need to be answered: (1) how to configure the phones, and (2) how to handle notifications. We now know that every user must have a unique email address with V20, and we know provisioning a 2nd account on each phone is not supported (but easily configured).

In my view, there are too many convenience issues with having 3 phones assigned to the same extension. I would recommend each user have their own extension, and have all three receptionists participate in a single ring group. For email notifications use the group email feature built into 3CX. That allows you to send emails to all the receptionists.

You make some good points there. This will significantly increase the burden of managing the sidecar BLF's though.

I had an additional thought that if they are all the same extension, it will be difficult for them to use Deskphone mode in Windows to do transfers and such as well.

I dont think the group email notifications would work as all three positions all share a single [email protected] mailbox. (These staff dont need or have personal mailbox's as it is a pool of people that man these positions depending on the shift)
