This is a small sample of a screenshot showing voicemail accounts for various executive and manager functions in one office. These accounts are for clients to call external DID for projects and business functions and go to specific managers or execs emails. We've done this for 5+ years. Now we can no longer make changes to those accounts without adding unique emails to make the system happy. We have execs with dedicated conference phones (different ext) in adjacent rooms to facilitate meetings. Now all of those ext show with a 1745329643731.png and cannot be amended.

Why? What purpose does this restriction serve?

We use the same email on multiple email accounts for spare, reserved, forwards, voicemails, fax and system ext. Our Help Desk email is used for all spare lines so they A) Find them quickly and B) can receive the Welcome emails to set new people up. I use my email on fifty or so ext to alert people not to make changes to specific business critical lines. So now I have to add 50 unique aliases to my email?

This unnecessary restriction needs to be removed please.

It is linked to the log in.

It is also linked to the 2FA. People asked for 2FA, we delivered. But this requires a unique emails address.

Just go and use the + addressing system and you should be OK. Just dont have the same email address on an extension, otherwise you will not be able to receive the welcome emails on those extensions.

Youre waaaay too late to moan about this feature >_<

FWIW I just set up a new extension and it didnt require a unique email or complain..

i think they removed the restriction to prevent creating without an email, it just disables the login for client IIRC.

I have no issues sending out the Welcome emails on any given account. I just did three to myself, same email, same server. No issues. All went through, as did the password resets.

MFA reasoning is fine, but this should be a selectable feature in that case. Give me the option to warn me if there is a duplicate, but don't stop me from saving a change because of it. This is impacting far too many lines and processes.

I didn't realize there was a statue of limitations on the obvious.

You can use + numbering on an extension, or dont use the email, and it will just prevent an extension from using the web client.

May I see an example please?
