Hello,

In v18, we can configure a ring group numer as mobile for an extension and active ring simultaneously.
So the incoming call arrived on an extension which rings the ring group.
It allows the user to modify the status of an extension to put different voicemail message.

Now in v20, when i try to put the number of the ring group, it says "Specify a correct mobile phone number"

Thanks for your help,

It allows the user to modify the status of an extension to put different voicemail message.
What? Using a ring group? That doesn't make sense.

The idea is that the client manages his voicemails himself.
In V18, the simplest was to put an extension that rings X other extensions (ring group), the incoming call rule rings the extension, if the extension is in DND/Away/whatever status, voicemail message is played. As we cannot rely on a schedule to play a voicemail message in this specific case

Why can't we do this anymore in v20 or is there another way?

This was never needed to manage a voicemail? It all makes no sense to me.

@Guillaume Bourgeois can you understand what they mean?

I think @foxconcept is trying to forward a dummy extension to a ring group.

I am not near a PC to look but IIRC ring groups are listed if one chooses to call a system extension…?

Let me summarize and correct me if I'm wrong.

You've added a dummy extension with "Ring My Mobile Simultaneously" activated.

The mobile number is another dummy extension (#2) which acts as a voicemail.

The goal is to be able to change the voicemail message heard by callers directly in the status of this dummy extension #2.

So, instead of a "no answer" destination, you're using "Ring My Mobile Simultaneously" from a dummy extension that intercepts the call before it reaches the "no answer" destination.

Right?

This all sounds like a big "hack"...
Perhaps if you describe the ultimate goal (and not just the configuration you're trying to achieve), we could suggest a much healthier alternative solution. Describe the objective; in the end, why is it not possible to direct calls to a "if no answer destination” as originally designed?

Incoming call -> ext 666 -> ext 666 simultaneously rings a ringgroup

If ext 666 status is DND -> play a voicemail greeting
If ext 666 status is Away -> play a voicemail greeting

The end user can manage the voicemail greetings himself from the web interface by having access only to his ext without any more rights

Maybe I have to use CFD with "GetExtensionStatus"..

ext 666 simultaneously rings a ringgroup

You just need to use a "no answer" (& unregister) destination for extension 666 when in Available status without “Ring my Mobile Simultaneously”

Anyway, you wouldn't want to use "Ring My Mobile Simultaneously" as it only handles one call at a time. Therefore, any calls routed to 666 while another call is already connected with an extension in the RingGroup will be directed to the "no answer" destination of the Available status.

Yes my bad
I don't know why I didn't think of it.
I can ring ext 666 like 1sec in available and use "no answer" to ring ringgroup.
Then greeting can be played depending on the status.

Thanks for your help !

Exactly! The client won't be mixed up, they'll continue using the same workflow method.

Of course, there would be a way to do it through CallFlow as well, but.. the simplest way is as you're doing it (without Ring my mobile simultaneously). :p

In the end, the hardest part was understanding the goal, haha! :D

Glad you found a solution to your challenge.
This happens to me too sometimes; I look for a big "HACK solution" only to realize later that there’s a simple one available.

Incoming call -> ext 666 -> ext 666 simultaneously rings a ringgroup
I’m pretty sure there was a forum thread in the last few months where 3CX pointed out that a user's Mobile number needs to be a valid number in v20, not 2-4 digits, but I am not finding it right now. I thought you meant forwarding, like so:

Yes, in the end, he had forgotten that he could simply manage the destination (as you showed) instead of using 'Ring My Mobile Simultaneously' , in "Available status"

Your answer was correct. The credit goes to you. :p
