Hey,

I have issues with email notifications with V20 which I am now forced to use on new installs, with a lot of installs we send multiple user VM Extension notifications to the same email address, now with version V20 you cannot assign the same email address to more then one user which prevents us from now doing this, it's fine in V18, 3CX support were not able to provide any work around for this! if there were to allow a different email address just for VM notifications this would get around this issue, but for now I think I'm stuck with this one.

I'm going to assume you are using a generic extension (typically called a general delivery mailbox in the industry) for a centralized location to store voicemails -- after-hours voicemails for example. In this case, you can specify a distribution email address defined on your mail server, to deliver the same voicemail to multiple people.

Thanks for the reply's, just to clarify, this is voicemails for multiple extensions that all need to send their email notifications to the same email address, we deal a lot in education and schools have a lot of VM with different greetings (general no answer, night, absence staff absence, trips etc..) which all need to notify to the same email address.

The plus addressing allows for that: user+noanswer@domain and user+absent@domain both deliver to mailbox user@domain without any further configuration. Many spam filters will automatically account for that now, as well.

3CX has conceptually linked the email address to the user/ext credentials so they will not send a password reset if the same email is used on two extensions, for example.

There may be another option. I encourage you to take a look at 3CX Voicemail Manager. This tool provides additional options for group based shared email boxes, and duplicating emails to a central email box. I'm not sure if we can do exactly what you want, but we may also be able to add a feature to the tool to help. What I can tell you is that the V20 requirement that everyone has a unique email is not going to change, so you will have to find a workaround for your specific case. We already monitor all the voicemail boxes, so it would not be hard to give you a interface to specify if an email comes into this email box, forward a copy to the specified voicemail boxes.

I'm hoping 3CX might add a field in the user voicemail section which will allow you to add a different email address just for voicemail notification as there is on a lot of other phone systems, but this is most likely wishful thinking!

@Royal22, there is a board for wish list items
