very high CPU usage on webmeeting with screen sharing

My computer is 100% CPU Full when i do a webmeeting with screen sharing
we are just 2 persons with webcam and i share my 1920x1080 screen

for information my computer is :
Windows 10 Pro x64
2.40GHz i3-4000M
8Go RAM
1To SSD
2 full HD screen

with chrome 75.0.3770.142
and with firefox 68.0 too

My WAN is a optical 100/100Mo guaranteed flow
and my LAN a 1Go

when i am in webmeeting without screen sharing (just webcam) the CPU is between 40 and 50% but when I start the screen sharing the CPU up to 100% (on the 4 cores) all the time
why and how can i decrease it ?

Your GPU Intel® HD Graphics 4600 does not support hardware encoding of the VP8 codec.

You CPU needs to take on the task of video encoding in this case and will cause high usage because its a very intensive task.

I can't advise a specific one, but if you are looking for an upgrade make sure it has at least VP8 hardware encoding.

Here's a quick reference table just for general knowledge for the Intel line like your PC, seems skylake and above will support hardware encode/decode of VP8

consider migrating to VP9 or VP9 10bits?
in this case it will be necessary to go on Ice Lake CPU to be quiet

You'll be seeing VP9 as an option soon, but that will make things worse as it's ~10-40% more CPU hungry than VP8. It's only redeeming feature is that it uses up to 40% less bandwidth and delivers a much crisper image.

This is why we've stuck with VP8 until now as in some ways its more mature than VP9.
