Hi guys,

so i received a request from a customer about his number blocks used in his ISDN Phone system. I have read a lot but can't seem to find a solution or answer to his question, so i'm gonna have to ask you guys again for some help:

- He is using a ISDN phone system
- 10 Number block (which is generally portable to another provider)
- they also have a virtual extension for where they're using the DiD's 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18 & 99 (which is kinda weird, since i haven't heard about that yet)

I suggested that he has to ask his provider for a 100 Number Block which we then can port to a VoIP Provider in order to use it for a 3CX phone system - this seems to be the only solution for this in my eyes. Am i right with this?

I unfortunately have only worked with VoIP and Cloud Phone systems yet, so i don't know what to think of this.

Maybe somebody has already had such a situation before or knows what exactly he's talking about

Thanks in Advance

Marcus

Migrating the main number along with the DDI number to a sip provider will not be an issue. Normally DDI are in blocks, there may have one DDI number on it own 99. You need to look at an invoice with the numbers clearly highlighted

You need to find out more, how the virtual extensions work in the current setup.

Hey @Saqqara

thanks for your response! I've asked the customer for further information and this is what i received:

"The following numbers are currently being used a ISDN-Extensions:

The numbers are reachable from external, since they are registered/set up in our "Octopus Open 230 ISDN Phone System". All other Numbers (for example 0xxx1/xxx088-1 or 0xxx1/xxx088-20 are not reachable until i set them up in my ISDN phone system as a extension"

This is what he told my word by word. It doesn't help me further out, but maybe you can get further infos from that.

Thanks as always!

So it sounds as if they are paying to reserve a block of 100 numbers, and may pay an additional fee when they activate each one. So...the entire block could be ported to another provider. However, if they do not intend to use the whole block at once, you'd have to see how dialing an unused number is handled by the new provider. Will they insist on sending the call to the PBX, or will they send it to a not-in-service recording, until it has been activated.

Hey @leejor

once again, thanks for your help and opinion on this. It helped me a lot.

Have a great day!
