I'm wondering if this is possible:

I make two extension groups where members of group A cannot see members of group B and vice versa. So these groups exist without seeing eachother. Is that possible?

Also when i make an extension a member of a group and then edit the extsion again and go to the 'Rights' tab it says it's a member of the DEFAULT group again. Is that by design? When i go to Groups>edit group>members it shows the extension is a member of that group.

When i check the 3CX softphone who is in the DEFAULT group (A) i can see that the other extension from group B shows up under the default group A. What gives?

Hi @telforce!

  1. Yes, this is entirely possible. We have great material on this in our 3CX Academy, click here to see more with examples outlined from slide 7.
  2. As an extension can be a part of multiple groups, when you click 'Rights' it will show you a drop down of all of the groups they're apart of.

After removing the extension from the DEFAULT group, you can see that only Another Group exists:

  3. Check that 'Publish group information to all extensions' is not enabled, otherwise other groups will be able to see the group you're trying to hide.

Aha so i didn't realize that the new extension i had made was a member of the default group after creating it. Thanks!
