Hi,

I have set up Voicemail Speech to Text, as per the instructions in the FAQ. This all works fine, except when I specify the Application Restriction IP Address for my machine.

I am using a hosted PBX and have used the static IPv4 address displayed in the dashboard.

If I turn on this IP Address restriction, then the API call fails and an error is displayed in the Google Cloud console. If I turn off the IP Address restriction, then everything works.

Just wondering what IP address the system is using to send this API call?

Thanks,
Ross

It will be the public IP address. It's the one that Google sees. The local IP won't work.

Hi Frederick,

I realise this. My system is setup with a static IP address 103.xxx.xxx.235.

When I add this IP address to the Google Cloud setup as an IP Address restriction, this just blocks any access from my 3CX system.

Is there anywhere in 3CX, or Google Cloud that I can see more detailed logs of the information sent to google cloud?

I am looking in the 3cxSystemService.log, but there are no details included in that.

That is indeed strange. What is your network setup? NAT, VPN, etc.

or do you also have IPv6 and the connection to GCP is made in ipv6?

This is a hosted system, which I assume is running on a 3cx.com machine somewhere - it was setup for me through a reseller, so I am not sure where the machine is that it is running on.

I have checked the Network settings in the 3CX admin website and IP V6 does not seem to be configured.

If I connect to the console using SSH, ifconfig does show an IPv6 address. I did try adding this as an option to Google Cloud as an allowed IP address, but it didn't help.

What would be really helpful is to know where the logs are that show what is happening when the 3CX system calls the Google Cloud system for Speech to Text.

The system will use its public IP to contact the Google Text to speech service. If it fails you should see a log entry in the system service log file if the logging level of the PBX is set to verbose.

The entry should look similar to the following:
Code:
SPEECH C:\ProgramData\3CX\Instance1\Data\Ivr\Voicemail\Extensions\001\vmail_002_001_20190423091933.wav: Forbidden (Requests from IP address xxx.xx.xxx.xx are blocked.)

This should tell you what IP the requests are sent from.

Thanks. That fixed it.
The system was using IPv6 and that IPv6 address was being blocked.
