The story goes...
An extension (1044) asked me to look into why when they press '*' on their phone to playback their VM, that their extension seems to try to dial out and says 'if you'd like to make a call please hang up and dial again" (sounds like the phone company voice, not 3CX).
After a couple hours of sorting thru the activity log and thinking of how it was possible that pressing * would cause the extension to drop out of VM and dial out, I decided to open ext1044 webpage client and check the VM call log. I found a 2 minute VM recording that said...
"beep beep beep... if you'd like to make a call please hang up and dial again... beep beep beep..."
HaHa, problem solved!
I still don't know how the gateway's PSTN line was held active long enough to get to the point VM recording the message, but since it has only happened once then I'm not worried about it.
If you find the humor in my situation,
You are welcome!
If there is a question about VM, it would be
What log records the phone button presses being sent to the VM system?
Thank you,
