Hi all,

I've got a client who is concerned that the disc space wont be enough if all their users keep their Voicemails.

He would like to store the voicemails in a different Disc and Folder.

Has anyone tried this successfully?, or have a workaround for it

Many thanks

There is no supported way of changing the location of the voicemail folder. Perhaps you could use a symbolic link to spoof the path? The other option is to use our Voicemail Manager which can archive voicemails to an alternate location, and compress the files at the same time so they only require 1/4 of the original disk space.

Keep in mind that 3CX has never supported storing voicemails at an alternate location, and has purposefully removed the ability to save recordings to an alternate location. The assumption is that bad things happen in 3CX if the location where the recordings are supposed to be saved is not accessible either due to permissions problems or misconfiguration or network error, etc. I personally have never had a problem with using a remote share, LUN, NAS, etc., but 3CX has a much larger customer base and may have run into issues I never have.

How long do you want to keep voicemails for,

You could create a script that moves voicemails to another network shares, and give people access to this.

You could do as Saqqara proposes, but then how do your users find and access the correct voicemail? Give people access to the share and have them dig around in the folder? While that does solve the basic requirement, it doesn't sound very user-friendly. I encourage you to look at our Voicemail Manager add-on. It solves all the challenges (and much more).
