Not sure if expected behaviour or not, I was testing accessing another extension's voicemail to record a greeting message to apply (say for an unregistered extension). However, after recording, the message was not applied - looking in the admin console at the greeting, it was set as <blank> although the dropdown does list the recording I made through the voicemail system. I would have thought that this should be applying automatically instead of a <blank>?
3CX v16 Update 4.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Dial voicemail service
  2. Press '#' and enter another extension number, PIN of the extension, etc.
  3. Enter voicemail options menu and choose to record a new self identification message
  4. Create new message, confirm all, and so on
  5. Exit voicemail / hang up
  6. Dial the extension that greeting was recorded for, prompt is blank
  7. Check admin console for that extension, greeting is blank.
  8. Check the dropdown menu, the recorded greeting is there and can be played back and applied.

Does the same thing happen, if you (remotely) record the Self ID, for an extension that is currently registered, or registers a set at a later time, and is then removed?

Hi leejor,

That's right, it happens in all scenarios in fact.
In addition, I performed testing to rule out issues by recording from various platforms:
  • Web client with a headset
  • Android mobile app
  • Desk phone

I also tried recording a greeting from my own extension, for my own extension and the same issue occurred. So it seems that this happens not just when recording for someone else's extension.

Furthermore, I can call up the greeting options and press option '2' to play back the currently set message, and the audio prompt plays back correctly. However when I dial in and am transferred to voicemail, all I get is the automated system prompt and not the recorded self-id.

I am now wholly puzzled.

Hi @niels.vanmierlo@oryxalign

I think you may have confused the Greeting for Voicemail (option 8) with Self Identification Message (option 5) which is usually used in IVR - Call by Name.
