Does anyone know if there is a voip provider that has the feature of being able to send a call to an external voicemail if all the channels are in use or busy?
If I had a 3 channel trunk, I am wanting the ability to have a fourth call go to a voicemail rather than it just being busy.

or sometimes providers do nothing they just end the call. Did you first search from 3cx supported provider list from where you are located ?
and finally ask directly to provider customer service

I am waiting to hear back from one provider I am looking into, callcentric.

I forward my calls to another provider if my trunk is down - Twilio - which plays a message then records a message - and sends it to my email. "twimlet"
But my guess is the provider is rejecting the call in this case...

That's what I figured happens. If all channels are in use, the caller would just get a busy signal. It would be nice if there was a feature that would allow the call to go to a voicemail rather than just being busy and not having to get another channel. Just looking for a feature that just forwards it to a voicemail rather than just being busy

It all depends on why they are calling. Personally, I'd rather reach a busy signal when calling a business, if it is a simple enquiry, and will never leave a message as it usually means playing telephone tag. I'd rather call later, if it is that important, at my convenience.
Of course, everyone has a different requirement.

who is your provider?
callcentric mat not be the best option.
I use Flowroute - unlimited channels - and I only pay per minute and for the DID's.

This is a hypothetical situation. I am just looking for a provider that has the feature of sending a call to a voicemail if all the channels are busy rather than it just beeping with the busy signal.

As a supported provider our system has the option to send call to voicemail and send email to the system admin

I think you will find more options if you choose a provider that doesn't limit your voip channels (charge per channel). You'll just be up against your 3CX license limit. If your reaching the 3CX limit on a regular basis then increase your license.
