3cx Web Client Audio Problem when connected to a public network

[3cx Server] 192.168.50.50/24 <---> 192.168.1.1/24[Router/NAT]1.1.1.1<---[Interwebs]--->123.222.121.112[Web Client]
  • Version 16.3.0.111
  • Server is setup behind a 1:1 NAT
  • Firewall checks all say they passed on 3cx
  • Web Client is the latest version (tested with and without extension installed) and installed on the latest version of Chrome
  • Tested and duplicated on both Windows 10 and MacOS.
Private Network:
If I connect the web client internally (without any NAT), I have audio in both directions.

Public Network:
If I connect to a different network (with NAT in place), I have complete control to the Web Client, I can hear it ring, but there is no audio at all in either direction.

Not sure if I missed a setting somewhere or not... Any input is appreciated :)

Hi booodrow
I had the same issues, when i first switched to Webclient.

The webclient audio doesnt go throug the 3cx tunnel. Instead it needs the Ports above 9000 to be open. If you say the firewall tester passes without any error, then this schould'nt happen. But i would check the firewall first.

Thanks, I did check the firewall, made sure the NAT is working as expected. Ports are open in the ranges listed in the FW test. Is there a way to troubleshoot the call flow? It makes me think there is a NAT translation problem on the SIP side. I'm very familiar with SIP in general, but 3CX is relatively new, so I'm still getting the hang on where everything is in the system. Overall its great, this is the only real issue I'm having overall.

What OS did you install the 3CX Server? And how?

For Debuging you can go on the Dashboard -> Activity Log -> Capture and make a netwrok dump

In addition to the firewall (which got us the first time also) did you allow the web page to access the microphone in Chrome? Any chance the router at the remote site is blocking the audio? Also note when we didn't have the ports allowed by firewall we'd get inconsistent results...as I recall the first call to *777 would sometimes work but subsequent calls would not. Not sure I understand that! :)

Yeah, we checked that as well... When it was being a problem, it was doing it with and without the extension installed and also tried it on multiple machines...

Interestingly enough, nothing has changed and now its working correctly...

Thanks for the input all :)
