Hi

Since the recent events we have an increased usage of the webclient now and are planning to retire our current but old Skype for Business server.
However there is one issue that we cannot seem to figure out, and it is related to the chat function within the webclient.

When the "Chat" tab isn't selected in the webclient we get a new notification of a new chat message in the windows notification center, even when chrome is being used but on another tab we get the same notification. But once that "Chat" tab or the conversation is open in this tab and stays there, no matter what tab or program is the focus we no longer get a notification and miss a lot of chat messages this way.

We have tried all possible settings, though the only one we can find within the webclient is the one provided in the screenshot. Even the chrome site settings to allow notifications from the webclient is set to allowed.

Is there a setting we are overlooking so we can get constant notifications of a new chat message regardless of what tab within the webclient has the focus? Even if a conversation is open, the "Play chat notification" also doesn't work.

Kind regards.

I installed the Chrome Browserextension today to see if that would behave differently, but sadly it didn't.

Seeing as there hasn't been a reply yet, that maybe there isn't a solution or setting that we are overlooking. Perhaps i also misconstructed my question.

So whenever a chat conversation isn't selected, or the chat menu isn't open in the webclient, you get a notification through the web based option which comes into windows notification center, and webclient based while the webclient is the active browser tab. But once a chat is selected and the conversation is on screen, then these are no longer provided if the browser or the browser tab is no longer the focus.

Is this something that can potentially be adjusted, a setting added or fixed in a future version of the webclient? Because it happens quite often that the conversation tab remains open and users shift to other tabs or applications and then miss all the responses of that currently selected conversation.

This currently also makes it a little bit difficult to make our users fully use this function as we are still keeping our S4B server running, and they point out that with S4B they do get a sound whenever a new message arrives and the chat windows isn't the focus.

We've received same feedback and user pushback due to "missing" chat notifications.
Additional short coming, IMO is lack of email notifications on missed chats. There is not a way for someone to tell if a message reached someone, if they have the webclient closed down, they will never know there is a chat waiting for them, and the person sending the chat doesn't know that it was never "received".

Thank you @sdg and @cmp1 for your feedback.

Let us internally examine your point.

Hello Constantinos

Do you have any feedback on this?
Unfortunately I cannot get the notifications working. Tried on multiple computers, different accounts. Notification rights is turned on, extension is installed and activated.
Using Chrome.

I just simply do not get any chat notification at all.

What I can suggest as a workaround at the moment is to have the Chrome Extension minimized. In this way, the Chrome Extension will blink (orange in Windows) and you will know that an incoming chat arrived.

Here's another workaround. In addition to the webclient, put the 3CX app on your iOS device. Never miss a chat again because the app just. constantly. sends. pings. when. you. receive. a. chat. even. when. you. are. in. a. call.

This way you ALWAYS know when someone sends :)
