Webinar Organizer Email Address

Hello, when I set up a Webinar using the Webclient in Version 16, my only choice for Calendar is 3CX (direct eMail.) When the recipient gets the webinar invitation there are buttons for Yes, No, and Maybe. Clicking on these buttons sends a reply back to 3CX using an address of [email protected] on my client's system that is configured to use the 3CX SMTP server. This of course fails because there is no 3cx.cloud domain. On another system where we use a custom SMTP server the reply address is the address configured on the SMTP server settings tab. Neither of these do any good as they are not the email addess of the person who set up the webinar. How can this be resolved? I would like the creator of the webinar to get the messages from the people signing up for the webinar. Thanks.

To have RSVP feature working you must use your own SMTP server configured in 3CX and not the build-in 3CX SMTP server. As we cannot send emails from your own address and ICS's (this protocol which makes this invitation) dependency on the "from sender" is a mess (you find more comments of mine ranting about it and in conjunction with Outlook especially)...

3cx31, thanks for the response. I did some testing this morning using a Gmail account for testing and found that while using a custom smtp server, the response to the Yes, No, Maybe buttons goes to the email address configured on the Settings->Email->Mail Server tab. However, if you do a normal reply to the message it goes to the person who set up the webinar. When I look at the headers for the message in Gmail, I see that the issue seems to be that the From address is the address I mentioned above - the one on the Mail Server Tab and the Reply-to address is the address of the person who created the webinar. The problem is that when you click Yes, No, Maybe the reply goes to the From address and not the Reply-to address. Something seems backwards. I can't find an email template for the webinar to see if this can be edited.

Gmail is a bad example for this as it will "inherit" you from the SMTP server and not the one sending the mails, I think Gmail does not allow sending as different user than the one given access via SMTP to the service. Could be wrong...

I bring this thread UP because I really find messy that the invite is sent from the system address (and so the RSVPs are going there) but the email has a Reply-To set to the user email address.
It would be very useful having a switch to enable the feature of using the user email for the From: header too.

This would make the invite system fully functional

There are some caveats behind this so it will not be doable via the 3CX SMTP as it will likely blacklist our server (essentially we would be spoofing your address).

If you use your own mail server though, you can easily do via address rewriting.

If you can't do that, using the iCal/ICS file is the easiest solution for now.
