Hi Team,

This week we have had to shotgun install our 3CX system for the rest of our firm of 120+ staff due to the current world wide COVID-19 situation. We have a very large portion of our workforce working remotely from home and utilising WebMeeting a lot. While I was away yesterday there was a very poor experience using WebMeeting for our director group, and another engineer has increased the specs on our PBX VM to overcome this. (I admit it was slightly under specced for the current handset count however)

My question is does the on-premise PBX have anything to do with WebMeetings? Could it impact the performance of the WebMeeting at all? My assumption was all this traffic and load would have been between the Web browsers running on the local machines and the 3CX cloud services.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Stay Safe!

Hi

Indeed, the load is mostly on the internet connection and the PCs browser sessions running the meeting off of the 3CX cloud MCUs.

You PBX is involved mainly for setting up the meetings and for dial-in participants (if you have any). And those would only use simultaneous calls and audio bandwidth, so I don't expect you should see significant impact or any at all if most sessions are strictly in browsers.

The main thing to be aware of is bandwidth: you pc needs enough upload to send your video to the cloud, and enough download bandwidth to download any live video feeds the other users are sending. Then, the machine is also going to need to decode and play those streams.

Thank you John,

That confirmed my understanding :)
