Welcome E-mails

Hi There,

Yesterday i set up a PBX using PBX express and our own google account.
The PBX is running fine, firewall check is ok. Set up extension and trunk. Have not tried calling yet though but what is not working so far is, the PBX is not sending out welcome mails or any mails.
Under settings > E-mail i configured the right settings and when i try to send a test E-mail, it just does nothing. Also when i create an extension the welcome mail is not send and if i try to re-send it there is nothing.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? I am kind of stunned as when i created a PBX using the express but then a 3cx trial account, everything worked fine. Now with our own google account it doesn't?

Have you allowed access to less secure applications
from the Gmail settings as per this guide >> https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/gmail-mail-server/ ?

Hi,

Apologies for my inaccurate explenation in original post.
I am not using Gmail as the mail provider but our office 365 account.(mail server: smtp.office365.com)
I used this before as well with the test PBX i setup and this was running fine.
What i also noticed is that i did receive the "Your pBX is ready" E-mail along with the SMTP test E-mail when you first set up the PBX.
But after that, no E-mails are send out anymore.

Hello @Maarten,

We always recommend to use Gmail, as it is known to always operate well with the PBX. You can try and check the outcome.
Furthermore, you can always check if your SMTP allows emails with attachments, or if something is considered as spam.

Fixed it using gmail rather than our office365 mail.
Running into a different issue. Not sure if i should make a seperate thread for this.
I enabled call recording on the extension i made. When i call it and click on the record button on the softphone, it doesn't do anything. No recording is being made at all. Am i missing something here?

Glad the issue with the email is resolved.

About the call recordings.. Try to not click the record button once the call is established

Just tried not clicking on the button and it still did not record the call. I think it is because i am not calling from an extension to an extension? But from an outside line to the trunk?

@Maarten,

Call recordings are extension based, meaning that all calls from/to that extension, and as long as the call is handled from the PBX, they will be recorded.

Are calls to your SIP trunk routed to that extension?

They are directed to the extension. I added the DID to the extension atleast for direct inbound calls.

So if you go to your Management Console >> Recordings tab, you cannot see the call recording?

Correct! There is nothing listed there. Quote is set correct. Call recording is activated on the extension.
Can't see that i am missing something.

What licence key type do you have? Is it a free licence?

Correct. Currently it is a free type as i am testing things before moving on to the standard/pro version. Recordings are not possible in the free version?

Yes that is correct. Call recordings are not available on the free version PBX.
