Widget slows down loading of our website dramatically

We integrated the chat widget on out website (no WP) and a user/customer of us is reporting that since the widget is active loading our website takes +10sec at least. Interesstingly this only happens as long as he is connected with his companies VPN.

No we fear that many customers might have trouble using our website as usual and deactivated the widget again. Anybody else facing similar issues?

I can't imagine where this big delay is coming from. As you would imagine, when you have the Live chat configured (WP or not), when someone access the website, the visitors computer also tries to make a connection to the IP of the PBX, where the Live Chat is pointed to.

Could it be that somehow the access to the HTTPS port of your PBX is limited on the firewall?
Also if this is happening only via VPN, could it be some security policy again not allowing visitors to connect to the PBX IP?
