Good morning,

We have an occassional alert that a random user's laptop IP was blocked. There is no rhyme or reason for it and sometimes the laptop is completely offline. We cannot figure out why these random blocks keep occurring and the logs do not provide anything we can go off of.

Desktop App v16.

Affected Module: 3CX Clients / Softphones
User agent:

Reason: 3CX Clients / Softphones blocked - 3CX API Component

This IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx has made numerous attempts to authenticate with 3CX using invalid credentials. In response, 3CX has blacklisted this IP and denied any further requests.

Also to note, the user is not inputting any passwords. There laptop could be idle, sleeping, or in use for other things and this will occur.

Can you confirm there's no packet loss to the laptop? Is the user connected via Wi-Fi?

It feels like the network is intermittently dropping or sending partial/corrupted data.

I assume whitelisting the IP is not a long-term solution?

I am unable to confirm the packet loss as it happens randomly. We had them happen a lot more a year ago, then for almost a year no issues. They have just started again but it has only been like 3 times.

The user is probably connected to Wifi at the time. They also have a Dell dock with ethernet they can connect to.

Whitelisting would not be the solution for us either.

Thank you!
