Hi.
I just would like to know the following.
I have an opportunity to buy a bunch of Yealink 42G Ip phones.
Can these be used in 3CX as a 42S instead.
is it that much different?
Sorry for a dumb question.

Hi. thanks for the reply. but not the question I wanted answered.
Can i use the 42G as a 42S on 3cx instead of a 42G legacy. will it work. as I dont see an advantage of buying 20 phones that won't work shortly if they phase them out. like I see they did with Cisco stuff.

No you can not use 42g and make 3cx think it is a 42s

Hi,

No unfortunately they cannot. They do not have the same hardware or software inside.
And even if you could make them appear like T42S somehow, it would change nothing regarding their limitations.

Learn what EOL means here exactly: https://www.yealink.com/en/product-detail/ip-phone-t42g

If staying supported and getting timely bug and security fixes or improvements is more important to you then avoid the gamble of EOL products.

If this is just for a temporary solution until you sort things out later, then you will probably be ok buying them if the price is right.
