Hi all!

One of our customers complains about the following issue. After upgrading his system to V18, the Yealink T58S deskphones asking if the outgoing call that someone is trying to place would be an Audio or a Video call.

I would like to ask how and why that issue occurred after the upgrade. And the most important, how can I disable this option for Video call and make all call with Audio only, since none of the deskphones is equipped with a camera.

Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

Hi @apitsos

Firstly, please confirm the model and firmware version so we can be on the same page (invalid model mentioned above).

Hi @JohnS_3CX!

The customer has Yealink T58A devices (sorry for my mistake) with Firmware 58.86.0.20 and the PBX is at the version 18.0.2.307.

Thanks! Ok so in V18 the T58 series has had a change to allow them to make video calls.

This makes sense to have it this way since these devices are primarily used by people that want video (one of the main selling points I'd imagine). The A model is the same as the V model, only difference being that you'd buy the USB camera separately.

There are no plans to go back to the way it was before, so I think your only solution is a custom template to change this behavior.

Hi @JohnS_3CX!

Thanks a lot for the clarifications. Would you be so kind to clarify also how could I proceed with this custom template and what exactly should I change, comparable with the default template?

Additional details, like where and how can I create this custom template would be very helpful.

All the best,

Hi @JohnS_3CX!

As always you are very accurate and helpful. Thanks a lot for the clarifications and for noting the last important paragraphs.

Personally I wouldn't change the template, and that's what I suggested the customer already. I don't like the idea violating the warranty or bring problems in the future, because of that. But we will see what the customer will say.

Once again thank you for your great support.

With kind regards,

You are welcome! Note by the way that depending on what the customer does, there might be other ways to do it.

ie. try dialling and then pressing OK button (it will not ask audio / video), or dialling and then pressing the speaker button, or dialling and then lifting the handset for example. I think the phone might not ask you and make the call straight away

We are having a issues with the T58A phones after the v18 upgrade release 2. When calls are parked on shared parking it asks the caller if they want to do a video call, even though video calling is disabled at the SIPTrunk option to disallow video calls. At this point you cant talk to the customer until they select No on their phone, if they select yes it goes into dead air. Seems more of a bug then a feature. Requiring all T58A users to create a custom template to use shared parking because those devices don't have video cameras seems like a flaw. Also why would shared parkinig not work at all if they choose yes to share video?

1. Are you using custom templates

2. Is your firmware on the latest 3CX supports?

I have tested a T58A here and when I press for example the SP1 BLF, it will park and unpark without asking me about Video / Audio while using V18 U2

Hello Everyone,
We just experienced this issue with a client that has approx. 70 Yealink T58V phones. It doesn't prompt for video or audio when using the # button to send a call, it only does audio. Our client is frustrated because before the phones would establish video automatically when calling another T58V phone, now they have to press video and the other side has to answer by pressing the video button when receiving an incoming call.

The reason they bought the T58V phones were for video when calling their different offices across the US, now it's a cumbersome process to establish a video call.

Can the custom template be used to simulate the way it was previously?

Thank You,
Jason
