Good day 3CX Fundi's,

Hopefully this will be a quick challenge to solve. One of our clients uses a hosted 3CX system with Standard Licensing. Most days we do not have any issues whatsoever, but here in sunny South-Africa we are affected by an ingenious idea implemented by our wonderful Government to alleviate pressure on our main and severely struggling electricity provider Eskom, called "Load-shedding". This means that our electricity is switched off region by region for hours at a time, sometimes multiple times per day. With that said, comes the issue I'm facing:

We are using Stun extensions, and although the normal desk phones reboots and provisions perfectly, the DECT bases (Yealink W60B) might boot perfectly, but extensions simply refuse to register. I have found a manual workaround to solve this problem in another forum post, but I need a long-term solution, and I hope you guys can assist.

The workaround was to enable RPORT for each account registered per DECT, problem is that we have multiple branches and it's an extremely tedious way to solve an issue we will be facing for the next few years at least. Note that when the bases are rebooted or reprovisioned, that RPORT will be disabled for most or all of the extensions. Thus, a recurring pain in my you know what.

I have had no luck with custom templates, and have yet to find a post with a decent solution to this issue.

Please help?

Note: Please let me know if you guys require any additional information.

STUN can be very problematic, the correct solution is to use an SBC.

You can install a 3CX SBC at each branch, either on a PC or Server or VM or even a Raspberry Pi 4B.
This will solve the problem permanently without needing to resort to manual changes or custom templates.

It was made with all these problems in mind, you can set it and forget it. We recommend to use our 3CX ISO and deploy it on a dedicated machine or VM.
