Hi,

We recently upgraded a client's self-hosted 3CX installation to the latest version of 3CX Enterprise, 18.0 (Build 418).
The customer has a mixture of older Yealink SIP-41P handsets and the latest Yealink SIP-T53 handsets.

Since the upgrade, the customer's Yealink SIP-41P handsets no longer have access to the company phonebook.
I assume this is because the Yealink SIP-41P has gone EOL and is no longer supported in the latest edition. The handsets worked ok on the previous build of Version 18, so it must be the upgrade that has broken this. The handsets still work, just this feature that's not available.

We can certainly speak to the customer about replacing the older SIP-41P handsets, but if this feature is no longer available due to the software upgrade, it seems cruel to block access to this one feature.

Appreciate any thoughts on this.

Hi @aurora3

This was discussed already in the above linked thread (and in a few others across the forum).

Some Good News
Yealink has recently provided cipher patched firmware for a few models that went EOL (T29G, T46G, T48G), we are planning on getting them to provide the same update on T41P/T42G after update 6 has shipped so stay tuned!

But as explained above, these are EOL from Yealink, so this is quite likely the last patch they will receive to extend their life a little longer. Don't expect the same courtesy for all models, it's entirely up to them how long they plan on maintaining devices that are no longer being sold.

You can also go the manual provisioning route and maintain everything yourself until the hardware eventually "dies", but in the long run the cost of labour (and lack of convenience) will probably be more than having them replaced with supported devices.

That would make our management very happy. They don't see any benefit to replacing 100's 42g's since the 42/43u's don't do anything "better" to them. I wish we at least had 42's so we could get away from the horrible ehs36 lol.
