I have a yealink T48S running 3CX version 16.0.610. There is still no support for the Opus codec with this phone? Do you guys have any idea when this is going to happen? I would like to have better audio quality.

Hi,

On the forum there are a lot of words written down about the use of Opus codec.
Please do a search on this.
For now please use the G711 codec for best call quality, internal and external.

I think you meant to say use G.722 actually.

No. G711

I agree I find G711 gives best call quality overall.

G711 is most common preferred codec used by sip providers over the world

Telnyx is my sip provider. They support Opus,G.722 and just about anything cutting edge on the market. Can you explain your G.711 explanation. G.711 is a thing of the past. It's like going backwards in time.

This a fact G711 is most used , if you set OPUS and no one in front is able to use OPUS then your pbx will do some audio transcode, with lot of ressource to do this real time and with a loss of quality resulting to call with awfull sound or one way audio and worst case drop call after few seconds.

Best audio for me is to set 3CX prefered codec on one expected from sip provider, set like this no audio transcode and audio is good.
Last week i've send a QR code to set an extension for an audio call France--> USA and sound was perfect, i felt callee was like one meter from me.
my pbx is on small lightsail cloud instance, from my side call was from DECT phone behind a SBC (PI) behind a 4G router.
