Hi all,

We used to have access to the "database_single" database on version 18 using the "logsreader_single" user.

Now on v20, we have lost this ability. Any thoughts?
Thank you!

You wont get any answer on this. Access to the db is not supported and not allowed.

oh! Thanks @bitn2 .

At least could we get any thoughts on the available options for integrating 3CX with Power BI?

@VoIPTools maybe you have some stuff to help out here?

If it is for reporting we will be releasing the reporting integration with Update 5. (No ETA)

We are working on powerBI integration so best thing you can do is wait a little bit and you will find it ready

If you need a solution now, you can take a look at 3CX Exporter.

Hi @NicholasP_3CX & @N_G ,

As there is no ETA for update 5, can we obtain the location of the database on the on-premises Windows server?
Thanks.

This is a conversation we have had in the forums 10,000 times. I encourage you to perform a search on the subject. 3CX will NEVER, EVER give you guidance on how to access the 3CX PostgreSQL database directly because they DO NOT WANT YOU TO DO IT. If 3CX Support discovers that you are accessing the database directly, you are at real risk of getting your PBX flagged as unsupported. Simply posting your question puts you at risk.

But you might be tempted to ask "why"? I can offer one simple example. Perhaps the most popular tool for accessing PostgreSQL is PGAdmin. What you may not realize is the simple act of clicking on a table name places a lock on the table and all the records. That may come as a surprise. You do not have to open the table in PGAdmin to lock the table. Now, what do you suppose would happen to 3CX if it needed to write data to the database and could not? Bad things. And then you are going to call 3CX support wondering why things do not work, or reports are wrong, etc., etc., etc. It is simply too easy to screw things up that are next to impossible to diagnose.

We cannot answer your question.

We understand 3CX’s position on database access and the risks involved. Our team has extensive experience in IT infrastructure and is committed to maintaining system stability and compliance. We took the time to review previous discussions on this topic before reaching out.

Our inquiry is based on specific project needs that require data access. We are prepared to wait for the upcoming Power BI integration in Update 5, which we expect will meet our requirements and provide the necessary features with reliable support to assist us with any issues that may come up.

If you wait for update 5, which will be 1-2 months we are thinking (BUT WE ARE NOT SURE) you will have access to accurate reporting data which you can easily do your own reports. Its going to be the big feature of update 5. So just wait a bit more
