We are currently testing an upgrade from 3CX Version 20.0 Update 6 (Build 724 Release) to Version 20.0 Update 9 (Build 995 Release - AI 1.4.48).

After completing the upgrade, we noticed a change in the Voice & Chat → Gateway configuration.

Before the upgrade, the gateway configuration displayed the trunk/gateway details, including the configured trunk information.

After upgrading to Update 9, the gateway information is now showing:

Information: Built-in Template: generic.gw.xml

The previous trunk number details are no longer displayed in the gateway configuration page.

Example:

Gateway Name: Members-3248845545
DID: 3248845545
Information: Built-in Template: generic.gw.xml

Could you please confirm:

Is this an expected change in 3CX V20 Update 9?
Do we need to migrate/recreate the existing gateway configurations manually?
Is there any updated gateway template required for existing Patton gateways?
Will the existing SIP settings, routing, and gateway parameters continue to work with the generic.gw.xml template?

We are using Patton gateways with SIP trunks and would like to confirm the recommended approach before proceeding with the production upgrade.

Yes, its expected behaviour.

With the new update you're able to edit your custom templates and push them through to your trunks without having to delete/recreate.

Supported gateways are here: https://www.3cx.com/pbx/voip-gateway/ with details on how to get them set up.

The upgrade shouldnt affect your set up but always test.

We are using a Patton gateway on our end. However, the missing gateway/trunk information details in the 3CX console are causing confusion, and we are concerned whether our trunk will continue to work after the upgrade.

whats missing? Is your config being edited or are you referring to the cosmetic display of template name?

You said "we are currently testing" so I assumed you'd testing the gateway after upgrade..

We are using patton gateway on our end. But the missing information details on the 3CX console makes confuse that after upgrading will our trunk will stop working.

Please see the attached screenshots comparing V20 Update 6 and Update 9. In the Voice and Chat section, under the Information field, it now shows a built-in template. Before the upgrade, this field displayed the trunk number details.
