3CX - Azure hosting - new Instance size.

Hi Guys, we have a customer running a very old VM in azure that was deployed by 3CX using the following azure instance size (its also running v20 Debian 12).

Standard A2 v2 (2 vcpus, 4 GiB memory)

the phone system works fine for what they do and there's no issues, however Microsoft no longer allow instance reservations for the above size since its being retired, and I'm looking at resizing the current VM to a new instance size to allow a new reservation to be put in place to keep their costs down.

Are there any known issues with resizing a 3CX Deployed VM to a different instance size and if not, does 3CX have a suggested alternative size for the VM ? I'd presume that if you deploy to Azure via 3CX it would need to use a new instance size given the old one is no longer available to use, what does 3CX use by default to deploy with now ?

Just after any advice around re-sizing the VM and what 3CX would normally deploy with, as i say the VM is running fine and phone system works great for their size.

How are you doing the redeploy? You might be better off doing a backup, restore then you wont have to resize partitions within the OS

Simply selecting the option to resize the VM in Azure, causes the machine to power down, Azure does the hard work in the background moving the machine over to a new image size then its a case of powering back on.

I did contemplate re-deploying , but the Azure Resize seems the quickest way to move to a new instance size without redeploying the who system and having to worry about moving call recording disks around etc.

Does it resize the OS too or just the disks?

It just resizes the Machines hardware it doesn't touch the os or data disks etc, so if you have a 2 core , 8gb ram machine you can resize it to a machine that has 8 cores and 32Gb of ram , i suppose MS calling it resizing is a little misleading since its just swapping the underlying hardware and not touching your vm's disks.

You'll have to repartition then to the size of the disks once it's done it.

its not going to touch the disks of the VM, it won't give any more space to them without me adding it, my main interest here is to find out about what Azure Instance size is allocated to a new VM when you deploy via 3CX since I need to swap this one to it.

The Vm's disks will be fine its more the CPU, Ram etc of a new instance I need to find out about.
