Hi,

When using the 3CX desktop app to make a call, with “Call using” set to the Yealink handset;

  • If the phone has firmware 96.86.0.72 the phone immediately dials the number entered, the caller hears the dialling tones, the number is displayed on the handset.
  • If the phone has the latest firmware 96.86.100.5, 3CX calls the handset, “Make Call” is displayed as the CID. When answered, the caller hears hold music until the callee answers.

Is this expected? Is there a way to revert it back?

Thanks

3CX Version Number 18.0 (Build 415)

Yealink T54W

Old firmware: 96.86.0.72

Latest firmware: 96.86.100.5

The phone and PBX are local.

3CX support staff may have a better solution, but this is what worked for me on phones that were still on 0.72. This may also work on phones that were upgraded to 100.5.
  1. Go to Phones, Options, check Allow Alternative Firmware, OK to save
  2. Dashboard, Updates, downloaded needed 0.74 firmware for phones you have
  3. Phones, select phones, Firmware. It should now offer the 0.74 firmware, along with non-3CX firmware. Choose the 0.74 firmware and upgrade the phones.
For now, I am leaving Alternative firmware on. After Update 6 is released I will test disabling alternative and make sure firmware looks good.

Hi,

Well my phones are already on 100.5 so I think this will not help me or am I wrong? :)

Kind regards,

Liam :)

Thank you, it works on my phones...

Hello, we are also dealing with this issue and need a fix immediately. Please provide an update of when we can expect a fix to be released. We have approximately 150 phones, so downgrading each device manually is not feasible; not to mention that 3CX Support has already discouraged downgrading on this thread.

The Solution by Accentlogic worked for me.
There was no requirement to download manually to every phone. The method , when followed , adds in the new .74 firmware to the PBX management console; and then allows you to deploy to all phones at once, by the normal firmware update method. Even before I deployed the .74 firmware to downgrade phones from 100.5 , I was able to remove the 100.5 from phone update firmware list by
1. Go to Phones, Options, click Cleanup
2. Found that 100.5 was now a firmware that could be removed on the PBX phone firmware list.

The deployment via
Goto Phones, select phones you want to updatte , click Firmware. It should now offer the 0.74 firmware, along with non-3CX firmware. Choose the 0.74 firmware and upgrade the phones.

worked for me and all phones are now back at the "latest .74" firmware version

Any update on this, it's January 2023 and there still doesn't seem to be a firmware update available to resolve this issue.

Hi, please can you tell me when the 100.5 firmware is finally going to stop showing as required on 3CX hosted? Thanks.
see reply by gygo3122 and accentlogic.
it allows you to remove firmware 100.5 from pbx so it never auto loads again. and you can also download and deploy the new .74 firmware onto all phones from management console to replace the previously loaded 100.5.
Then forget that 100.5 existed.
Hope this helps.

Sure, it could works, but an official answer from 3CX staff would be appreciated.
Can't ask my clients to trust me as a kind of Guru.

I would like to add my issue to this thread. The first one and a half steps are the same as Sean describes, however, in my situation, the call does not go through at all:

  • If the phone has firmware 96.86.0.74 (my phones are SIP-T54W) the phone immediately dials the number entered, the caller hears the dialling tones, the number is displayed on the handset.
  • If the phone has the latest firmware 96.86.100.5, 3CX calls the handset, “Make Call” is displayed as the CID. When answered, the caller hears a system prompt "Call transfer failed. No answer" and the call ends.
Downgrading firmware to v. 96.86.0.74 fixed the issue, though.

Sadly I may have came accross this thread a bit late. I just updated a bunch of phone to this 96.86.100.5 version, should I revert this not before calls start coming in or is this resolved?

We have all our T53 phones, which were affected all sitting on 96.86.0.74 due to this issue.
It also shows as up to date still, so odd that your phones upgraded past that.
I assume since 3cx is keeping us on this version of firmware for now the issue is still present.

I have this issue since applying 96.86.100.5, is this fixed or still a bug? Its May 2023 with the issue first reported last October.

So I'm having this issue on my T54W on firmware version 96.86.100.5 with the phone setup as a router phone. DND does not sync...at all. Also this is a required firmware for the router phone setup.

Any workaround suggestions to fix this? It's super annoying.

@NickEmpireComm as @SweetAction said, you need to be on the latest 3CX version of the firmware. xx.xx.100.5 was not an official 3CX release - it should have only been an alternative firmware. So, you will need to get on the correct firmware and then it will work fine. To clean up your server and only have the correct firmware you can try the following.
  1. Go to Phones, Options, check Allow Alternative Firmware, OK to save
  2. Dashboard, Updates, downloaded needed 0.76 firmware for phones you have
  3. Phones, select phones, Firmware. It should now offer the 0.76 firmware, along with non-3CX firmware. Choose the 0.74 firmware and upgrade the phones.
  4. Go to Phones, Options, uncheck Allow Alternative Firmware, OK to save
3CX staff may have a better procedure, but the above should allow you to get the right firmware without doing a manual upgrade on each phone.

Please open a support ticket from your portal, and we can assist you with this from there.
