Hi all,

Ever since applying the latest build we've got an issue with remote handsets having no audio (to both internal and external calls via SIP trunk) until we restart the Media Server service, which fixes the problem for a period of time. Local extensions and calls via our SIP trunk are not affected.

We've had this installation for several years without this issue. There have been no other changes to our network config etc.; the application of the latest build for 3CX is the only change.

Has anybody else had this issue? Do we just wait for a patch?

Many thanks,
Jude

Need more info on the setup

Is the 3CX hosted internally or within the cloud.

How are the remote phones provisioned - stun, sbc ?.

If stun how many phones at each location,

If multiply phones at the same location does each phone have different ports - https://www.3cx.com/community/threa...etgear-nighthawk-x4s-d7800.54620/#post-225296

Have you increased the imcoming ports on your firewall (increased in SP6) - Port Range Change: 9000-10999 [UDP]

Hi - internally hosted. I didn't realise there was a range change in SP6. I've reconfigured the firewall with the new range, so hopefully that will fix it!
Many thanks for your help.

Having the same problem. Increasing port range didn't work for us.
How about you?

That's a bit worrying. Currently I've got a scheduled task that restarts the media server service every night as a workaround. I was going to stop that after the firewall change, but not sure now... !

Has anyone gotten to the root of this? We are having the same issue. I hadn't pinpointed it to the media server service but did pinpoint it to a machine reboot fixing it.

Don't know if this will help anyone else, but we resolved it by enabling 'PBX Delivers Audio' for all extensions. Hadn't needed to before, but that got it working. That and changing the 'localsubnet' parameter to the public subnet of the PBX.

I have this problem as well with a hosted system. No Firewall/All ports open. Phones at one site experience this almost daily while phones at another site dont have this issue at all. All phones are using stun and have the same config and using current firmware. I am at a loss. But restarting all Services fixes the issue which proves that the issue lies somewhere inside 3cx.
