Hello,

This is my first time setting up the following scenario, so I have a quick question:

I have 2 DIDs under 1 SIP trunk and 5 users assigned to each DID.

I’m planning to create 2 ring groups .one for each DID, so inbound calls will route correctly. But I’m unsure how to configure the outbound caller ID so each DID uses a different number when placing calls.

also, Do I need to create two separate departments for each DID, or can they all remain under a single department?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello @tikom ,

The outbound caller ID is set at the user level. No need for multiple departments in this case.

You can assign the DID number to the extensions, as desired, or to the outbound rules. There can be more than one outbound rule using the same destination trunk. Each can have one the DIDs assigned, and be accessed using a prefix, or by "allowing" certain extension to use certain rules.

I should also add that that Caller ID assigned to a trunk will override the DID number assigned to an extension in the event the outgoing number needs to be changed for certain calls.
