Client uses *642 / *641 for their general, custom out of office message. They'd like to add an additional out of office recording for lunch breaks that is scheduled to happen automatically every day, but they'd like the ability to override it when needed. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give! Cheers! :)

Hi Nathan,

The PBX has two modes: In and Out of office hours. Each trunk can be routed to the relevant destination accordingly as you probably already do now.

Your Out of office destination can be a dummy extension which you can change its status on demand across the 5 statuses we provide.

Each of those statuses can send the caller to a custom IVR message of your choosing.

All you need to do is set those up, and change the status of the dummy extension whenever you want via the 3CX Client or by assigning the dummy extension to a simple phone and use BLFs or speed dials to swap statuses

This is perfect, @JohnS_3CX! Thank you for the quick reply. I'll dig further into this today!

@JohnS_3CX, I've dug into this a little further, and I think I understand exactly what you mean.

Is there a way to program a dial code / BLF button so a receptionist can change the status of the dummy extension to one of those 5, or would this need to be done through the admin console / 3CX client?

Is it possible to set an extension to go to a certain status based on day / time? Or would it need to be manually done?

Thanks very much!

Yes you can use BLF, just configure them in the BLF tab of the extension and have a provisioned phone for it.

Yes, this can all be done under Extension -> Forwarding Rules.

Also if you use the webclient, a user with receptionist rights can change the dummy extension's status on the fly.

If you need to do it via a device though, you will need to provision a phone for it like Frederick says.
