  1. removal of the admin account and linking the admin console to a phone extension.
    1. This isn't a good choice. I administer the system I don't use it. now I have to have an active extension as an admin. this made sense 20 years ago with physical phones. it makes no sense now via a publicly exposed web portal.
    2. with the removal of the dedicated admin account my strong password has now been tossed in the garbage and I am forced to use an insecure 10 character password for the admin account. Best practice is a 20 plus character password on admin accounts these days. a 10 character password can be brute forced in a couple of minutes!
  2. 3CX talk names - this is just annoying. our customers don't use it, but now we are forced to create names
  3. unique email address on phone extensions - this is a problem. Not all phone users have an email address. Some users have multiple extensions. but now they can't get be tied to their accounts so they get voicemail because you won't allow the re-use of an email address.
  4. So now all my certs are useless since you tossed the entire system and built something completely different? Its not even remotely the same thing.

It is a good choice. You probably had a test extension to troubleshoot issues. Now that same extension can be used to manage the system from a single UI. I like it.

Just set a stronger password? Nothing prevents you from doing so.

Yeah, those are not super useful for most customers but they are generated automatically for new users. Only existing ones will require to have one set. Not a big deal and you can basically put whatever you want as Talk name if you don't use it.

Learn of VERP. It will help a lot for this case. Also, users don't NEED an email, but if none is set, the Webclient gets disabled for that user, as a security precaution.

V20 certifications are coming. Just wait for them. The system itself works in a similar fashion so most of the old certifications is still valid.

how does VERP help with 3CX refusing to allow an email to be associated to multiple extensions?

how do I change the password to something longer? the only option I see is a "reset" button that generates another short system set password.

I disagree strongly on the admin extension LOL. Admin credentials should be 100% separate from the extensions.

VERP helps because you dont need to use new email adresses.

After clicking the reset button you will get an email to reset the passwort and can set it to something you want.

I really don't understand how something designed to prevent bounce back emails will help me work around this new restriction in 3CX of only being able to assign an email address to single extension instead of multiple extensions?

Depends on your provider... you can use instead of [email protected] [email protected] and so on. All this emails will reach the same account.
that kind of name overloading doesn't work with MS 365 email accounts. I could create manual alias's on staff, but that is extra work 3CX is now imposing on us.

I did look but didn't see that article... but that's OK that makes you acting like a jerk 100% acceptable.
Maybe choose your words wisely or you may find users less likely to help you in the future, especially from top contributors.

@CedarglenHomes
something to add to the comment of @kieferschild we do not tolerate and welcome such a vocabulary here, and you are kindly asked not to repeat it.
Thank you
