A hopefully simply question.

I have noticed that I am getting increasing numbers of spam calls so have started using the Blacklist number option to stop these calls wasting time.

It works.

However, I also pick up the CDR records in real time to spot genuine missed calls. This morning I added a new number to the blacklist and about 2 hours later
the software reading the CDR records said I had missed about 10 calls. Now they were all successfully marked as blacklisted so it is a simple thing to not report these calls as missed.

However, when I started using blacklist numbers I expected the calls to just be rejected by 3cx and nothing to happen. But according to the CDR record it connected to a call queue. So now I am curious.

If someone calls me from a blacklist number, do they just get silence? Do they actually get connected to the call queue and the message from the call queue plays? What does the receiver hear? I asked as it seems they clearly think the line is active and kept trying to connect.

Thoughts appreciate.

I think the call gets dropped, "End Call", however I have never tested to see.

I thought it sent a 487 when they tried to call in.

Thank you. The CDR record does indeed say EndCall, so does that mean the person who dialled thinks the number is disconnected?

seems to be the case

That 100% going to be decided by what your trunk provider does with a 487.

I've seen providers do some weird things, like route to a failover number.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I am guessing my SIP provider does nothing and drops the call, but to be honest I don't really care providing the call doesn't get through to me as I am only blocking unwanted, SPAM callers and as far as I am concerns they can go...... (you can fill in the blank:-)

Thanks for your help.
