Hi All,

Deployed a 3CX server on a big farm. There are no SIP Trunks so unable to make / receive calls externally.

The problem I am experiencing is the 3CX App on Android phones do not ring, as soon as person calling puts phone down, message pops up on Android phone saying "missed call"

The Android phone is connected on wifi on the internal network and assume the problem is with the PUSH agent hence not ringing. Cant call other extensions from the android either.

Does the 3CX app need SIP trunks, or some SIP connectivity to a SIP provider in order for the 3CX app to work on these extensions?

3CX PBX does have internet access, Firewall / IPTables on Debian is disabled, 3CX Firewall test is green all the way

3CX system is 16.0.6.655
3CX App on phone is 16.4.4.132

Any help / guidance is much appreciated

Regards,

No, I haven't, my understanding is that will only be necessary if you want to use your own Google account to send the PUSH notifications?

It’s not necessary really but you could see if it makes a difference

@kieferschild

Thx, I have some other items to action, let me see if someone else chirp in with some other ideas, if not, will test this tomorrow.

did you untick "disallow use of extension....." in extensions options ?

Hi @PTG,

We will be issuing soon an updated beta for the Android app that includes various fixes. When we announce this beta release, make sure you join the 3CX Beta Program to test the new app with your setup.

Thx all for the posts / suggestions, really appreciate it

@aws2p

No, "disallow use of extension..." is not unticked, but "disable remote ..." is unticked.

Interesting point there, but I never had to do this on the couple of installations I have done previously, although not the same case, i.e. my previous installations all had SIP trunks to a provider, but this one not, purely for comms internal on the large farm, have 20 physical SIP phones working without issue at the moment, so I am still wondering if the 3CX needs external SIP capility for the app to function.

@kieferschild
only installed it on 2 mobile phones at this site, both android as far as I know (400km round trip from me) so doing most remotely and both experiencing same problem. It is not a crisis per se but is leaving me with some egg on my face.

Something I am trying to do for 2 guys busy on a project at the site so that they can be contacted while onsite by the customer and at the same trying to show customer some of the features of the 3CX PBX system as there might be another sale at the farm owners business location, but the 3CX solution is not going well at the moment :-(

Just interesting that this is only site I have which does not have outgoing SIP capabilities and running into this problem, or in other words, it is the only glaring difference between this and my previous installs.

As per my OP, yes, 3cx and app is both on latest versions as far as my knowledge goes, see version details in OP. Cant comment on android version itself.

@KyriakosP thx, will do, will it be possible for you to confirm if current 3CX android app is dependent on 3CX PBX having external SIP access, i.e. needs a SIP provider to function?

I don't remember the need of a sip trunk to be able to use apps.
if you call internally, between extensions, you don't need a sip trunk set , so why it should be necessary for apps?
Your problem is elsewhere

@PTG none of the 3CX apps need a configured SIP trunk on the PBX to function for calls between extensions.

@KyriakosP
Thank you, that is then ticked off the list.

For now I have unticked "disallow use of extension....." as well as configured my own Firebase PUSH agent. Waiting for them to re-provision phones onsite and will then test

You're welcome @PTG.

@PTG just keep in mind that the Android device will need to be able to reach the PBX on its Tunnel port (usually 5090) and also on the HTTPS port (usually 5001). In addition, the PBX needs to be able to connect to Google's API servers to deliver the PUSH message. These are some points to consider as they are the basic necessities for the apps to function as intended
