We are aware that this is a known issue. We've tried with diferent codecs but the behavior is the same.
It only happens with the Chrome extension. With the Windows APP and with physical phones there's not such delay.
Also we found that the "keypad button" is the signal for begin to talk. Once it is active it means the call is really established. While it is gray the call members hear silence.

With all this set, is there any known configuration that minimizes this?

Regards

Hi Sergio,

Please check the following and let us know:

Go to the Webclient > Settings > General > Personalize > Audio/Video

Ensure that all three audio options are on the same device like here for example:

Now also make sure the default Windows output is pointing at the same device like so:

Once these are set, refresh your browser session and also right click the Chrome Extension icon and reload ( just to make sure everything is synchronized )

Try to make a call now, to another extension and notice if you hear the progress tone while the other side is rigning. Have the other person pick up their phone and start talking immediately (i.e count 1,2,3...) to see how much true delay there is between the progress tone ending, and the other side's audio starting.

Hi Johns,

Thanks for your response. We've done that tests already.
The sound settigns are set as you mentioned in every PC, everything pointing to the default sound device.

In our tests the caller starts counting 1,2,3... when he sees the 00:00 (when the call is "stablished") the called part hears the last part of from number 2 or number 3 sometimes.

Sure, my apologies:

  • 3CX Version, 16.0.493
  • Server OS,Debian 9
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? Local, same LAN
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware Chrome Extension
  • Provisioning Method: Local
  • Trunk Provider or Gateway Make/Model: Generic and working OK
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO

Thanks Sergio,

I will also need some more fine details on your setup so I can understand the load the machine has and how it can affect performance. Please share the following details if possible:

Number of
  • Webclient users
  • Mobile Client users
  • Windows Client users
  • Deskphone users
  • Bridges (if used)
  • Integrations with 3rd party systems (if used)
Type of machine
CPU model
RAM size
HDD or SSD?
VM or bare metal?
Is there anything else running on the machine

If its VM (otherwise ignore this question)
How many cores?
Are the cores reserved or shared with other VMs?
Are there other VMs running on the system currently?

Hi John, atached you'll find the info.
Two notes:
Note1: CPU and Memory are well under control, but I can send you monitor graphics. The VM is far from being out of resources.
Note2: The VM cluster is monitorized as well and both CPU and RAM have normal levels, average, 13% for the CPU and 50-60% for RAM

Please do not hesitate to ask for more information.
