This is an odd one. I just installed the 3cx app for windows on a couple of the work stations at my office. Everything seemed to be working fine, so I removed one of the desk phones as the other person testing with me just wanted to use the soft phone and that's it. Once he did that we started having issues. He can answer call sin the 3cx app, but no audio goes either direction. he can't hear them and they can't hear him.

I know that the soft phone on my workstation was working correctly, so i removed my desk phone to see if that would cause anything. As soon as I did I started experiencing the same things. I put my deskphone back into play and it didn't fix the problem. While I was trouble shooting I discovered that if I turned the record on and off within the 3cx app while I was on a call that audio would start working again. This is totally bizarre.

Windows 10
3cx 16.0.2.910
Microsoft Livechat LX-3000

Has anyone seen this, or have any ideas why it might be happening?

Just a bit more information. I just logged into the webclient, and everything seems to be working fine there.

Did you change the Windows client from Deskphone(CTI) to Softphone? Are the speakers/mic settings set correctly?

Hi jmalin

The Windows client can either operate as a CTI "remote-control" for your phone, or it can operate as an independent softphone. Removing a deskphone would only cause issues in the first case.

Here is what softphone mode should look like: you will see on hook

  • What version of the windows client are you running? (above you mention the PBX version only)
  • did you remove the deskphone from the extension provisioning AND reset the deskphone so there is no chance it is logged in somewhere?
