Hello,

We have an on-prem 3CX with the professional license with the email server currently set to the 3CX Mail server.

If I change the mail server to custom or Microsoft 365 and the mail service fails, does the 3CX failover to the 3CX mail server?

If so, is there a way to PREVENT the failover so it just fails with perhaps something written to a log file that the SMTP server failed?

Thanks in advance.

If you set the system to an alternate email server (in this case MS365), if the connection to that email server fails, than email will fail. it will not revert back to use 3CX email server.

That is what I needed to know. Thank you, Jonathan!

If you use a custom mail server, and the mail server itself has failover then 3CX will always be able to reach either one or the other.

3CX will not be aware that the SMTP has failover, and it doesn't need to know at the end of the day.
