I've tried to install the Desktop App on a few machines and it's never completed successfully. If fails and rolls back.

The relevant lines in the msi log seem to be:

MSI (c) (E8:1C) [10:18:22:255]: Product: 3CX Desktop App -- Installation failed.

Is this because my Windows firewalls are turned off? I firewall at the perimeter, not on each workstation.

Hi @jms,

Can you run the installer as Administrator? Does that work?

Are you running any AV software on the PC? If so, disable it and try the installation as admin again, does that work?

Yes, I've tried running as administrator. It still breaks.

I disabled the AV today. It still breaks.

Hi @jms,

What is different about this Windows installation? Are you using group policies?

I can tell you that we've had tens of thousands of installations without a problem.

Hi All,

VasilisV_3CX, I have got the same problem as JMS.

Since last version of 3CX Desktop APP (18.8.508) in all machines in my Windows Domain, I'm having this issue.

- When I execute as a local user (Without admin permissions), the installer cracks and rolles back (simiar Log as JMS, Thanks to this i found this forum)
- The same problem when I launch a CMD as a domain administrator (With rigths in this machine)
- When I switch sessions to start as admin domain user, the installs fails again.
- When I switch sessions to start as local machine admin, the instaler seems to be ok!! so I switch again to the domain user, run cmd as a local administrator and installs the msi package. The problem is that something is not working properly, because I cannot activate the account (from the webapp 3cx, windows logo up left, and provision (The word in spanish is Aprovisionar, just under install)

So, I think the origing of the problem should be same configuration with my GPO's or Windows Domain.

any idea?

Hi VasilisV, Thans for your Quick reply

right click under CMD and run as administrator

"msiexec /i 3CXDesktopAA-18.8.508.msi"

Hi Again,

Finally, I got the solution.

I have a GPO in my domain to force admin rights for all the instalations.

As 3cx Desktop App does not need it, I Think it was the problem.

I disbled this GPO and I could install the msi package!

Well done, jnogueira.

Disabling Admin Templates/windows Components/Windows Installer/Always Install with elevated Privileges from the Computer GPO didn't change anything, but when I disabled it from the User GPO as well, the installation succeeded.

Now I have to work out a way to install it without breaking all my other installs. Not sure it's possible. I have 100 workstations. Might stick with the Windows client for now.
