This article is quite good: https://www.3cx.com/docs/pbx-dial-codes/#h.43je7s56x0ri

However, it says "If the Administrator dials *642 (appends a 2 to the code), a prompt will be played stating that “3CX is now set to OUT OF OFFICE HOURS”. "

Does it need to be an administrator account dialing the code? If so, what settings on their EXT does that person need for this to go off correctly?

Bit urgent as we have a hurricane bearing down on us at the moment. Prompt answer would be appreciated. :)

If dial code is set on PBX , everyone who know this can change dialing this code from a phone connected to pbx

Pbx dial code need first to be set , by default is not

Thanks. Not what I wanted to hear though.
Anyone can change the status of the PBX and with no logging we can't tell who did, if they do.

What is the max length a dial code can be? If I can set it to *56789 or something similar I can reduce the chances of it being used accidentally.

when you call *64, 3cx returns audio message to says in which state it is (forced in or out or usual)
when you dial *641 you force IN, opposite with *642 you force out.

there's no automatism when this is set , status stay until someone change it

Yes, thanks. That is made clear in the docs. In a perfect world, I'd just like to restrict its use to senior staff and managers.

this is not the way it is designed, just remove it after end of use if you are not zen

i have tested now with *56789 as dial code prefix , it works

Thanks for that. Was a busy couple of days from hurricane recovery. I have amended the * code to 4-digits and will change it periodically.

This code should be restricted to specific extensions as someone can get onto our public delivery phone at the back door and shut down our main phone lines.
