We have recently changed from Raspberry Pi OS on ver 16 to a Debian virtual machine running 3cx ver 18 update 5. All was working well until 31/12/2022 when our license ran out and the server will no longer activate our Free / Standard license with the above error failed to establish a TCP connection. From the server I am able to ping activate.3cx.com and I get a response, there are no outbound firewall rules on the 3cx PBX, it is using google dns 8.8.8.8 and it has internet connectivity. I have checked the SSL certs and they are up to date and correct as per the change around the 1st December last year. Our SIP trunk is still up but we have lost all BLF and the 3CX web interface is saying, Your Subscription expired on 31/12/2022. Without subscription you lose access to important features.
Any help with how we can get this activated once again would be greatly appreciated as we have tried many things for the last week and nothing so far has worked.

Are you sure you are running U5? It should work on that one, but if you have anything older it won't work.
