Today i'm going to play with the failover for the first time.

Am I right in thinking I only need one license for this? (PRO/ENT) only difference being DNS TTL?

I was just a little confused with the following info:

Whats the difference?

Is ENT auto failover? idk.

It will work with both editions and there is no difference in how it is implemented but do bear in mind that 3CX Failover was designed to work with the 3CX Enterprise Edition and that is the edition we recommend using for it. Using a PRO edition will undoubtedly cause delays on reconnecting upon a failover event and will also cause delays when restoring the connection back to the primary server.

Yes it's a single license, I just did a test and go tit working and wrote in a different forum item how to do it - here's the quote

Ok guys here is how it works in case you didn't know

In the customer portal click "Reinstall" to install a brand new instance of the same license
Once the install finished the FQDN will change-over to the new instance so do it out of office hours. Then quickly change it to the passive failover server so it stops all services - this is important, if you don't do this the FQDN won't change back.
Now go back to the primary server (you have to use the IP address of course) and edit the license, press ok and click "refresh license" .
Once that's done the FQDN will eventually swap over - in enterprise this takes about 5 minutes.
I've just tested and can confirm that this works =)

In addition to what Grant Moxom mentioned, just to be safe, I do also recommend restarting the "3CX PhoneSystem 01 System Server" from within "Dashboard >> Services" on the Primary Server once all the rest has been taken care of.
