Hello,

I have logged on to find a message saying my subscription will expire soon, I have only set this up late Dec last year and should be on the Free standard 4SC licence.

Does anyone know what is going on or what will happen if it expires ?

I was under the impression the 4SC was free forever when self hosted ?

Under product it is saying I have 3CX Standard 4 SC.

Your licence will not expire, but no one knows what features the free version will have in future.

This is a normal warning message and is really meant for those installations that are using a purchased licence. With the free licence the PBX will automatically renew the licence when it expires. It used to be that the free licence renewal was yearly but, from looking at my installation, it appears that 3CX have changed it to 6 months (It's still free but looks like it has to renew twice a year instead of once).

So it should keep functioning until they completely get rid of the free self hosted option ?

A Pro 4SC is under 200$.

Under the option to renew at least for me It looks like standard is $150, Jumping to pro its $250 AUD for 4SC.

Cant find standard on their website any more, Looks like its pro and up, Interestingly I cant tell which the prices are for haha.

The two middle columns are the price for the license.

The last one, the Hosting Option, is an addon if you want 3CX to host and monitor you system and provide support for it. If you self-host, you only have the license to pay.

As for Standard, it's no longer available except for Free 4SC when a license expires. Users of Standard are encouraged to go to StartUP instead as it offers the same features and even more.

Ahh, That makes sense now thanks.

As far as I can tell the StartUP requires you to use their SIPs not the customers own ? I have a situation where we already have SIP provider and a DID configured and would like to stick with that provider but have the ability to centrally manage the phones / users etc.

Also even though standard is only 4SC there are about 20 users in total ( Phones are rarely used but everyone wants a phone ) So I don't think the 10 user limit will be OK in this case either.

There are a number of older Cisco SPA phones that need to be provisioned over LAN, I don't think the cloud based install will be able to do that. These phones will eventually go away but for the immediate future they are a "Feature".

You have to use a supported provider yes. Not 3CX's one (they don't provide trunks, only refs.) However, it may be worth looking at since using a custom provider can be tricky to setup. Not all providers will work with 3CX.

The StartUP doesn't have a call limit. Only user limit and can be upgraded to 20 users. If they need more, I'd buy a Pro 4 or 8SC.

In this case, go on-prem (or cloud with a VPN?!) and for that, use a paid license. You'll be safe from any changes to anything "free."

Thanks, They are MNF aka Vonex now, I have them working with the on-prem install. The way I was interpreting this was that with the startup you can use the SIPS we provide nothing more.

VPN may not be an option in this case, Besides an on-prem will also save additional hosting fees.

SIP TLS is available in dedicated systems but not StartUP (at least not yet.)

Yes you save that, but on-prem is vulnerable to internet and power outages.

That is OK, If the internet or power goes down at the office no one will be using the phones any way.

Thanks for the help clearing this up, Looks like 3CX is still the path forward though be it for a fee, Which for what you get is pretty good for the price.

Yes, 3CX is very cheap and as a software, you get updates every 3-4 months with new features and improvements!

They're working on some spectacular stuff in the background that will make it even more advanced! Like a new call manager service, new APIs, new integrations, and more! (Disclaimer: from what I hear from the staff and Nick himself.)

Need some assistance... I have a 4SC Standard License... Now for some unknown reason my there was a corruption on my server..Everyting was so messed up, couldn't do anything, or access anything. The Server was re-created and did a fresh & clean install.. I keep gettiing a message that I need to renew that the Maintenace as expired. When I go into the customer portal, it says that the maintenance doesn't expire till March 2nd, and says I need to renew. When I go to renew it says automatic renewal. I've tried to do a refresh in the PBX and it wont activate it and says maintenance expired. When in the customer portal it has not. And it says I need to do an update and wont let me update as the pbx keeps saying the maintenance is expired. This V18 that I'm still working with

Just a note in this, unless it’s changed in the last few months, existing Standard licenses can renew, they’re just not available for new licenses.

@Heath I would start a new thread… are you on 18 update 8B or 9? Prior versions cannot activate. Free licenses are controlled by 3CX.

i have been using a free license onprem that renewed automatically. after upgrade to v20 it refused to apply so we deleted that subscription, as it didn't connect anyways.
now, it seems that there is no way to run an on-prem server for free.
does anyone know if "3CX Hosted - PRO" will stay free after 2 month trial for less than 10 users?

am i right that only 3CX free (with their SIP provider) remains free after 2 months? no alternative? i have myself for deleting that old subscription....

There is no free option on premise anymore. That wasn't a good idea to delete the old one. But pro isn't that expensive.

3cx reactivated my old license, however it was done as an exception.

thanks 3cx!
