3CX Hosted - CDR via IP port not working

Hi,

I have installed a new 3CX-hosted system and want to collect CDR. I have set up the CDR as a server so I can connect to the public IP/port. I have tried several TCP ports (3000; default, 9000, and 5015; usually open on the firewall), but I cannot get a connection established.

Has anything been changed as this used to work on older installs? Is there a different port I can try?

Which way round are you attempting to connect? Usually with a hosted system you need to have the 3CX end in active socket mode so it initiates the IP connection (so you configure 3CX with the IP/port of wherever you want to collect the CDRs). Is this what you are attempting and what are you trying to receive the CDRs with?

I will point out that this approach (connecting to an IP socket) has one fatal flaw -- if your socket connection goes down, for any reason, the call data generated during the outage will be lost forever and you will not be able to recover the information. For example, if you have a local internet outage, or your socket connection fails, or you need to update your socket software. you will lose data.

As self-serving as this may be, in my opinion, if you need CDR data, and it is important that the data be complete, hosting 3CX on a server where you have access to the CDR files is the only way to ensure you do not miss any data.

Hi @Cjay. I have the 3CX setup as a server so it is waiting for us to connect to it to collect the data. This is what has normally been done on our 3CX systems. Usually they are self-hosted so this is not a problem but this particular install wants to be 3CX-Cloud hosted.

This used to work in the past but I am guessing they have tightened up security.

Hi @VoIPTools . I agree with what you said. This is more of a fact-finding post as they are an already installed system (I installed a new test system to recreate the issue). Just trying to ascertain what has changed to make this an issue.

I guess there is no way to get the data connecting to the 3CX, and will instead need to mess around with inbound firewall/port forwarding to get the data being delivered from the 3CX to us.

You are partly correct. There is no way to connect to a 3cx hosted system to receive data (passive socket) and it is required to set the CDR to Active Socket in order push the data to your CDR server.




You will simply enter the public IP where yotur sewrver is and set a port, for which you will need to open inbound to your CDR collection server.

Hi @Charles_3CX. Thanks for the information. I figured that was a change. Is there anything planned to allow another connection going from site to the 3CX as for some customers messing with firewalls etc is a bit much, especially on smaller installs.

Also, am I losing my mind, or did you guys used to have an FTP connection type at one point?

It never was an option to connect into the 3cx hosted instances, to begin with. And the answer here is simply no, there will not be an option to connect to a hosted system to retrieve data.
