3CX integration with CRM applications

Is it possible to integrate 3CX with user developed CRM applications? I mean CRM applications other than Sugar, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage ACT or Google contacts.
I guess that is possible thru APIs but I would like to have more details on what 3CX modules or applications I need to have.
