Hello,

I noticed that 3CX has announced that the v16 is not compatible anymore with v18, but in the greeting email for new users, if you click in the link to download the desktop client it let you to the v16 installation msi package: https://downloads-global.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneforWindows16.msi

I put this in knowledge of 3CX at earlys 2022 but this is not fixed, so I tried to do it on my own by edit the default email greetings template, but when I wanted to change the link Inoticed there is no 'official' link for the v18 version

So here is my petition, I need the current link to the Windows v18 Desktop version installer, can anyone help me¿?

Thank you

Where did you notice that the 3cx app for windows is not compatible with version18?

Although there is no v18 for this legacy app, please note that it can still be used with the latest version of 3cx.

You may remove the download link from your welcome email template if you wish to do so.

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly sorry for my lack of english.

I was reading from all the 3CX communications that the v16 and previous client versions will stop working on v18 soon, therefore I wanted my clients to have the v18 version installed as all have the latest verison of 3CX PBX installed.

After creating the users, I noticed that many of them actually have the v16 desktop client installed, I asked and everyone get the v16 version froma v18 greeting email

I only want to have all clients in the correct version, is that so weird?

P.D. Finally found that the V18 Desktop Client is in the PBX itself

the link if anyone want it is in https://YOUR_3CX_DOMAIN/webclient/api/app/windows

Thanks for the reply. The legacy app, as mentioned, will still work, but yes, it is now advised to use the Desktop app.

Also the way to install the new app is in the welcome mail. You can edit the template to remove the "old" app.

Hello bitn2, that is the point of this whole post, to be able to find the link of the new version and modify the template, but as you can check yourself if you look for it, there is no public link so if someone like me wanted to remove thet outdated version of the desktop app from the welcome email has to modify this:

Go to Settings - Parameters. Search for 'emailtemplate' and in the one of your language look for this <li> section:

<li style="mso-special-format:bullet;"><span width="100%" style="line-height: 1; width: 100%;"><a href="https://downloads-global.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneforWindows16.msi" target="_blank" style="color: #0596d4; text-decoration: none; -ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">3CX App for Windows</a> - configure it by running the attached config file</span><br style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;"/></li>

and change the link, you must add the link itself, change the string 'YOUR_3CX_DOMAIN' for yours, and add the download tag to download it with the right file extension:

<li style="mso-special-format:bullet;"><span width="100%" style="line-height: 1; width: 100%;"><a href="https://YOUR_3CX_DOMAIN/webclient/api/app/windows" download="3CXPhoneforWindows18.msi" target="_blank" style="color: #0596d4; text-decoration: none; -ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">3CX App for Windows</a> - configure it by running the attached config file</span><br style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;"/></li>

Its enough to remove the link to v16. The new app you will find on your webclient.
