Hello all,

I have working 3CX server on some cloud in Canada, and my task is to migrate that PBX to the AWS Lightsale so I can test how it works. This PBX does have paid license, so I need to backup everything and restore on AWS 3CX.
What is the exact procedure for this migration? I think that I can't deploy this license key to the AWS because it will ask me to create unique FQDN, but FQDN is already active, and I want to preserve it, so I was thinking about installing 1 trial 3CX on the AWS Lightsail, and then just import full backup and restore. I will first shutdown old sever and then proceed to restore backup on the new server.
I just want to make sure that everything is done as recommended by 3CX, so I don't create a problem when I use same license on a second server.
Regards.

If you're asking for the 'exact procedure' then I'll be happy to invoice you for consulting time.

If you're asking for a general how-to, then you can have this information free of charge.

1. Back up your 3CX PBX without license or FQDN. Download the backup to your PC.
2. Release the FQDN through the customer portal.
3. Create a new PBX Express installation using your existing license key.
4. Set up the new (released) FQDN.
5. Wait until the installation completes
6. Log in.
7. Restore the backup from your PC.
8. Cross your fingers and hope it all works.

2. Release the FQDN through the customer portal.
This step is not really necessary if the same FQDN will be used. The key is already bound to the correct FQDN so no need to release it. The installer will detect this and skip this step.
