Hi,

We are currently using 3CX v15.5 SP6 and I'm trying to figure out a few things regarding MOH.
I see that we can either use the general MOH or playlists.
What does Randomize "music on hold per call" mean? and for what all does this setting apply?
what happens if the setting is changed to "music on hold per day"?

Coming to the playlist part.
Is there any limit to the number of files that can be added to a playlist? or the number of playlists that can be created?

Also Why is there no document from 3cx regarding MOH?

Thank you.

This means you play randomly a MOH file on each call, of course you need almost to have different files to be played in MOH list :p .
"music on hold per day
This one is easy to understand, same MOH file is played during one day, MOH file change only next day

I had a check on it and when "the music on hold per call" is selected, i see that 2 calls are playing the same MOH file.
A calls B, and puts B on Hold - B is on MOH file 1.
A calls C, and puts C on Hold - C is on MOH file 1.

Now, when I disconnect both calls and tries again, they are on another MOH file but its always the same MOH file at a particular time.
Is that normal?

did you add MOH files recently? how many files do you have to be played?

Files were added one after another now, for testing purpose.

There are 4 files under General MOH.

On my PBX I have 3 files ready for global MOH and when I do call tests they were all 3 used

all 4 are being used but i don't understand why the same song is being played when a call is made one after the other.
Like I said, when A calls B and places B on hold, then B can hear File 1 as MOH.
A calls C(B is still on hold) and keeps C on hold, then C also hear the same File 1 as MOH.

Is this correct behavior?

When I disconnect both calls and try again,
A calls B and keep B on hold, then the File 2 starts playing and for C also File 2 plays.

This is what I'm not able to completely understand.

I am under the assumption that if we select "music on hold per call", the MOH file should keep on changing for each call.

Or is it like since there is a call and MOH file is being played, all the other callers at that time will only be able to hear the same MOH?

Yes this is what happens, when you engage a transfer, not sure 3CX consider it as a new call, so it plays the same MOH, but when you hang up and do a real new call then MOH file change.
