Is it possible to install 3CX offline and upload a license file instead of needing an internet connection to check the license status? Some of our clients work in a secure environment. If we would want to migrate them to 3CX, this would be a requirement for some.

I dont believe so.

Part of the installation is the activation of license and it needs to hit the activation server.

Otherwise, it could be abused and you could potentially run 1000s of 3CX with same license key.

It would be possible to generate some kind of code on the 3cx server and link that code to a license on the 3CX portal. Then we could generate a license file (with expiry date included) to install on the 3CX server. This process can be repeated on a yearly basis, or when a license change is required.
If you do it like this, the license file can only be used on the 3CX server that generated the code. We have other systems that work like this.

yeah probably, but for 3CX you need an internet connection.

Without Internet, no 3cx. Updates, licence, sip trunk....

There are ways to fix all that.

Updates could be made available for download and manual installation
A SIP trunk does not need to go from the pbx to the internet but can go through a voice gateway.
License can be done in the manner I explained before...

If it is for a client that only uses phones inside the network, an internet connection on the pbx should not be required ...

Can I launch a feature request for this?

If you want to support an installation like this, its on you. I wouldnt do that. Feature requests can be posted in the Ideas Forum (Gold Partner or higher)

There will be a definitive choice made by 3CX as to why they havent done this already. Likely, it would increase support calls when it goes wrong, would be one of them.

Similar discussion here.

yeah, I can imagine that we are not the only company that would implement this ...

Hi, in theory a well configured firewall between the 3cx instance and (universe) or (any network access path you control) -- will control all traffic for the IP address where 3cx lives suitably?

so you have ability to deny all unwanted / untrusted traffic; only allowing things like
license server activation
if desired, email notification message sending
SIP trunks if desired
etc.
this is a much cleaner way to implement something like this / could be done / immediately
and only would not work if you have an air-gap network with no internet. ?

just a thought.
