Hello,
I integrated 3CX into a hotel while keeping the existing analog phones connected through Grandstream GXW4232 gateways.
Some phones have function keys programmed with legacy 4-digit codes (front desk, restaurant, bar). Unfortunately, I was not informed of this requirement before the migration.
The new 3CX system uses 3-digit extensions, so these programmed codes no longer match the destination extensions.

Is there a way to map these legacy 4-digit codes to the correct 3-digit extensions without reprogramming all analog phones? Like using 3CX Call Flow Designer (CFD), a 3CX dial plan/routing rule, or a digit map on the Grandstream GXW4232 to translate the dialed digits before they reach 3CX.

What would be the cleanest and most maintainable approach in a 3CX environment?

I have an AI license there.
Thank you all !

Hi @sanch6 if you are looking to change the extension digit length (e.g., from 3 digits to 4 digits), you will need to reinstall the PBX from scratch, as this setting cannot be changed afterwards.

However, if you simply want a single digit (like dialing 0) to route to a specific destination (such as the receptionist at ext. 100), you can configure this directly as follows:
  • Go to the extension settings (e.g., Reception).
  • Open the Options tab.
  • Under SIP ID, enter the desired digit/number.
  • Click Apply changes.

Then, go to the system menu ---> options ---> enable the parameter allow direct sip calling and apply the changes.

When doing this, if someone dials lets say 1000 it will connect with the reception ext for example 100.
