I am running a Fax Forward Extension that is tied to the DID reserved for the fax line. This extension is supposed to email the specified contact when an inbound fax to the DID is received.

Upon testing, the email is never received by the user in question. When I call the fax DID directly, I get the standard fax sounds that indicate the line is functional.

I'm curious if there are any other firewall ports or configs that are required for fax to email to function properly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Your SIP provider must support fax.

i have no idea what a fax forward extension is.

I initially followed the steps outline in the link you provided. Though the emails never seemed to make it to the specified inbox.
I then saw the option in the Fax settings under "Add" > "Add Fax Extension."

Here you can specify which extension all faxes would go to. I believe it tries to accomplish the same thing. Just routing all faxes to the DID directly to the email associated with the extension you specify.

I was able to confirm that the firewall was blocking emails from [email protected]. That has been whitelisted.

Now the emails come through and hit the phone system, but I'm getting this error:

The following error occurred when trying to send an email with subject ‘You have received a new Fax’ to "[email protected]’ :Connection timed out."

That sound line a mail server config issue.
